Update #7 - 7/19/2010
There is an exciting amount of noticeable difference at many of our construction sites since our last update! If you get the opportunity, please stop by the Stafford and Dunham school areas to see the changes that seem to be happening daily.
Elementary Campus – Abraham Lincoln (Pre K-1), John F. Kennedy (2-3), Barack Obama (4-5)
The campus will be located at the Dunham School site. West Jr. High has been demolished. All planning and design has been completed on all three of these buildings. Contracts for construction have been bid and awarded for all three buildings. Construction has already begun on each of these buildings. Completion time is expected to be next summer, at which time Dunham will be demolished. Parking and a bus loop for all three schools are expected to be completed that summer and all three schools are scheduled to be open in August/September of 2011.
Milkovich Middle School (6-8)
The school will be located behind the current Stafford Elementary School. All planning and design has been completed. Contracts for construction have been bid and awarded. Construction has already begun on this building. Completion time is expected to be next summer, at which time Stafford will be demolished. The parking area and a bus loop is expected to be completed that summer and the new Milkovich Middle School is scheduled to be open in August/September of 2011.
Maple Heights High School (9-12)
The school will be located on the practice field area behind the current high school. The old bus garage has been demolished. All planning and design has been completed on the high school. Contracts for construction will be out for bid by the end of this summer. Construction is scheduled to begin later this fall and expected to be completed by the summer of 2012, at which time the current high school will be demolished. Parking in that area is expected to be completed that summer and the new Maple Heights High School is scheduled to be open in August/September of 2012. The open area next to the current Milkovich Middle school is scheduled to replace the current practice field after 2012, and further discussion will be held in the next two years about any potential upgrades to that area.
Overall Project Information**
The bidding for the project is currently well under budget. The OSFC standards only allow for 4 smart-boards per building, but we are going to implement a technology upgrade with these additional funds to equip every classroom with a projector and an Eno Board, which is an upgrade from a smart-board! We may also be able to implement a number of other upgrades to the facilities (i.e. flooring, carpet, etc..) if the high school bidding comes in under budget.
