Principal's Message

Greetings and Welcome to the 2019-2020 Academic School Year!!

Dear Parents:

I am super excited to see your child/children this school year.  I hope that your summer was relaxing and everybody has enjoyed the warm weather.  Before the summer winds down, I challenge you to go make memories and place a smile in the heart of a child.

This year we will focus on “Being Our Best Selves”, it is the intention of the staff here at Barack Obama Elementary school that every individual in this building feels loved, appreciated, and worthy of a quality learning experience.  We are committed to implementing practices that bring out the best of all members of our school family.  It is our desire that children build a positive attitude towards learning through continual celebrations of their success.

I am personally inviting every parent to attend our State of the Schools’ Address, Thursday, September 5, 2019 @6:00p.m.  This is an opportunity for you to hear first-hand about our successes, goals for the year and the challenges we face without your support.  It is very important that every family have a representative in attendance.

I am asking all parents to participate in our annual 30 Day Love Challenge.  Please document through pictures, video, song, dance, whatever your creative mind directs you to do and email to Octavia.reid@mapleschools.com.   The 30 Day Love Challenge will begin on the first day of school, August 21st and end October 1st .  Every morning before school, for the first 30 days, you are to tell your child/ children how much you love them and one great thing about them.  We are going to speak life into them collectively, and start this year off with positive vibes. So give out extra hugs and kisses. Spread Love… (Ex: I love you because you help this family in so many ways.)

I look forward to meeting you and your family and celebrating the many accomplishments of your child/children.

In Partnership,

Dr. Octavia A. Reid, Principal
