We understand these are very difficult times for everyone with all that is going on in the world today. The first grading period has ended, and we will continue with remote learning until the end of the second quarter.
First quarter grades have been entered and report cards are being mailed home. Unfortunately, we are seeing many students not performing at their highest level and their grades are suffering because of this. In order for every child to be successful, they must attend their live teaching hours and complete the assignments. During the second quarter, late work will not be accepted more than five days after the original due date. Also, for a child to be counted as attending school during remote learning, they must complete all of their assignments. For example, 35 hours of instruction equals 5 days of school. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Teachers are offering additional break-out sessions and “office hours” to help their students’ complete assignments. We urge every child to take advantage of these opportunities and reach out to their teacher if they need help.
The slogan for Ohio during the pandemic has always been “in this together.” This statement applies directly to the work we are doing here at Barack Obama Elementary. In order for every child to be to be successful, we all must work together: the child, parents/guardians, counselors, principals, and other school staff. Once again, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if assistance is needed. We all are here to help your child be successful in school.
