Abraham Lincoln Elementary: Dismissal Guide for Families
Welcome to the new school year! We hear your feedback regarding dismissal wait times and want to share how our process works, the improvements we have made, and how we can work together to keep every student safe and get you on your way faster.
The Big Picture: Our Shared Campus
1,200 Campus Students: All three elementary schools on our shared campus now start and end at the exact same time.
500 Young Learners: Our building serves Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students.
High Traffic Volume: Our campus coordinates 13 buses, 23 daycare vans, and hundreds of cars simultaneously.
Safety Protocols: District guidelines require all buses to fully load and depart before the car pickup line begins. Staff members match every student tag to parent tags and personally escort each child to their vehicle.
Front Office Phone Line Pause (2:30 PM)
Beginning at 2:30 PM, our front office staff pauses routine phone calls to focus 100% of their attention on dismissal. Staff actively track, match, and escort our 500 young learners to cars, buses, and daycare vans. Pausing phone lines ensures our team remains entirely dedicated to student safety during this transition.
Improvements Already In Place
Curbside Pre-K: Pre-K students are dropped off and picked up directly at vehicles with staff escorts.
Quieter Waiting Zones: Students wait in smaller classroom zones rather than noisy hallways so they can hear their names called clearly.
Dedicated Support: Teachers are assigned to specific bus and daycare groups so they personally know every child in their line.
4 Ways Families Can Help Speed Up the Line
Display Your Car Tag: Keep your official tag clearly visible in your windshield at all times.
Stay in Your Vehicle: Please do not walk up to school doors or cross traffic lanes on foot. Staying in your car keeps the line moving safely and efficiently.
Send Dismissal Changes Early: Submit all transportation changes in writing before the 2:30 PM cutoff.
Practice Names: Help your child practice recognizing and responding promptly to their first and last name.
Join Our Dismissal Team!
We welcome parent volunteers to assist with escorting our young learners to their vehicles. If you are available to help during afternoon dismissal, please call the front office to sign up!
Thank you for your patience, partnership, and commitment to keeping our students safe!
